Beej's guide to killing dragons

Having just had my 36th level halfling mage toasted by an ancient multi-hued dragon has inspired my to write this document which should describe how to kill ancient dragons in complete safety without any chance of death. Maybe next time I'll follow my own advice...
It's actually really easy as long as you follow the guidelines:

• Be Very Fast! (at least speed 3)
• Never get breathed on!
• Be prepared!
• Don't screw up!
• Maximize your profits!

Sure, that's common sense, you say. But how do you keep from getting breathed on? How do you keep the dragon from ever getting an attack?
To arrive at a solution to these questions, you should have at least some of these recommended supplies:

• A ring or boots of speed
• A staff of speed, or a potion or spell of haste self
• A wand or spell of stone-to-mud
• A ball wand or spell (stinking cloud will do)
• A wand of wall building (optional?)
